NO FEEDING OF GOATS IN PENS
**Minimum of Two Classes
1. All rules governing livestock in the General and Special Rules and Junior Livestock Rules apply to this department.
2. Entry fee is $8.00 per head, DUE August 1, 2010
3. All male meat goats must be wethered (castrated or elastrated). Does may be shown in this class. BE SURE TO CHECK THE NM LIVESTOCK BOARD HEALTH RULES.
4. All meat goats will be groomed for show with not more than 3/8 inch of hair over the hock.
5. Meat goats will be judged for meat quality.
6. No meat goats will go to the meat packer.
7. All meat goats must be tattooed.
8. All meat goats must have collars to be shown.
9. Classes will be divided by weights:
Minimum weight- 40 lbs
Maximum weight-125 lbs
10. Only first place animals will be considered for the Grand Champion Meat Goat. Only the second place animal in the class from which the champion was selected shall be eligible to move up for Reserve Grand Champion consideration.
11. All meat goats must have horns that have been tipped to no larger than a dime.
12. Any meat goats having visible signs of cysts, abscessing or any other diseases will not be received.
13. A minimum of 3 goats are necessary to constitute a class.
14. Only Grand Champion, Reserve Champion and runners up will sell at the Junior Livestock Sale.
